Brooklyn, NY: Jack Rabid, the longstanding and beloved proprietor of The Big Takeover magazine, an alternative music publication 29 years in existence, spearheaded a well-trafficked Internet radio program on BreakThru Radio (BTR), henceforth copping the moniker, ?DJ? Jack Rabid.
Now, with the show in its second year, Rabid pulls something else out of his hat. Loosely, and perhaps inadvertently, modeled after the UK?s seminal John Peel Sessions, The Big Takeover on BreakThru Radio, http://breakthruradio.com, now launches RABID IN THE KENNEL, an hour-long interview and performance showcase, on the first Monday of every month, fully conducted from The Kennel Recording Studio in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn?home base of notable producer Wharton Tiers (Sonic Youth, Helmet, Dinosaur Jr).
The very first Rabid In The Kennel session, airing right now, right here: http://www.breakthruradio.com/index.php?show=7332 features veteran indie rock icons, The Posies. An undeniably influential force in the American DIY underground for two decades (despite their breakup in 1998), the band, much to the glee of longtime fans, reformed and released a brand spankin? new album, Every Kind Of Light on Rykodisc in 2005 and have remained together since.
The featured artist for August?s show will be punk-rock legend T.V. Smith of Adverts fame (?Gary Gilmour?s Eyes?), and the program is still booking into the fall. Mirroring Rabid?s impeccable and diverse palette, one can anticipate a wide variety of artists from all over the musical spectrum and from all levels of profile.
And in addition to Rabid In The Kennel?s revolving door of premiere artists, the show is accepting submissions from unsigned and independent artists from all over the musical map to be considered for a session. For details, visit http://www.rabidinthekennel.com
Starting today, people can hear the show via a link on the aforementioned site. The RITK site will also be maintaining an archive of past shows, as well as exclusive photos and video from the sessions.
